Season 3 Episode 40

Posted by tinmanfrisbie on June 8th, 2011

We go off the beaten path a little bit and discuss X-Men: First Class and Thor. Since Marvel movies have a direct impact on DC movies, we felt they were worth reviewing. Enjoy!

Enjoyed the podcast. I personally am not a dc or marvel guy but I have my favorites from both. My favorite dc comic is Superman and my favorite marvel comic is x-men. I echoed most of your opinions on both movies. One thing that I differ is Kevin Bacon was great but his character seem to me could have been exchanged with Mr. Sinister. But besides that even though it went against the comics the movie was great. 9 out of 10 second only to X2 which I thought was better though.

Thanks for the comment, Jason! X2 was a great movie for sure, I almost hesitate to place this one above that one. Take care!

Hi Isaac, Adam, Disclaimer up front…I haven’t listened to your podcast because I’ve not seen the Thor movie yet. I’d rather not get spoiled, although as entertaining as you guys are I might not mind. I will go back and give a listen afterwards. I imagine that in your analysis of Thor there may have been a man crush going on there. LOL! When I do go to see Thor I’ll be looking for a happy go-lucky no-holds barred hero (so if you see him standing in line would you be a dear and get his phone number for me?) I think of Thor as someone who knows right and wrong and isn’t afraid to do the job much like another super human hero character…I hope there is an Adventures in Babysitting moment in the movie. I so wanted a Thor baseball cap, you know the one with the wings, way back in the day. Still do! I did see Austin Powers First Class..uhh…I mean…From Russia With Love… ok, ok…X-men First Class. It was groovy and I totally cheered for Magneto. Sigh…it’s hard being a DC gal! Cheers!

@Anabel. Yeah Xmen had a very James Bond vibe to it especially with Sebastian Shaw. But we hope you enjoy Thor it was AWESOME!!!!

I agree, it is better for all of us if we get more movies based on comics.

Great podcast again guys I pretty much agree with what you said but I don’t think First Class is as good as Batman Begins. Personally I would have preferred First Class to be all about Magneto chasing down Shaw. But there was some dodgy CGI in the film especially when something hit that beach at the end. But overall these were two superb comic book movies and probably two of the best. I’m looking forward to what you have to see on Green Lantern, personally I loved it so will be interesting to see what you guys think.

    Thanks again guys

I heard about the CGI in the Sub scene but I guess I need to see it again to notice it. I loved Batman Begins and its hard for me to compare the two titles, for sure. But I guess overall I just prefer how the X-Men movies approach the struggle vs humanity’s weakness. Thanks for the comments my friend and stay super!
